Colombia brings me a lot of joy, as my family lived there for three years, specifically in the beautiful Bucaramanga, the fifth largest city in the country and also known as the city of parks.

The country has a privileged geographical location, offering 365 days of tropical climate, three deserts, six snow-capped mountains, two oceans, and an extensive coastline. Depending on the altitude, you can experience a bit of everything. The country's most valuable aspect is its people; Colombians are friendly and love to party, sing, and dance. They are full of flavour that is contagious to non-locals. You will be surprised to see how modern and vibrant the city of Bogotá is. The city has transformed into a surprising tourist destination and a welcoming city. Bogotá has a thriving nightlife, superb al fresco dining and bar culture, and international shopping. Personally, I really like Colombian clothing and style. Its privileged location and international airport make it highly accessible and functional as a main gateway to destinations throughout the country. A dear client recently visited Bogotá with her family, indulging in her love for art and gourmet cuisine. She raved about her dining experience at Adriano, a restaurant known for its exquisite Spanish dishes. Osaka, which offers excellent Nikkei cuisine, is also a great option. Leo offers an 8-course tasting menu, an experience for you to pallet.

While in Bogotá, be sure to explore La Candelaria, a district renowned for its splendid colonial architecture. Enjoy a stroll through the Plaza de Bolívar, Bogotá's main square, surrounded by important monuments of the colonial and republican era, such as the Cathedral, the Congress Palace, the Cardinal Palace, the colonial churches of El Sagrario and San Agustín, the House of Independence, the Palace of Justice, and the City Hall. Also, consider the market squares; here you will find a great variety of flowers, exotic fruits, vegetables, meats, seafood, cheeses, and medicinal herbs, as well as typical food—a great opportunity to live a unique cultural experience, taste some exotic fruits, and enjoy a small snack during the tour. Do not miss Cerro Monserrate, where you will have exceptional panoramic views of Bogotá.

Just a short drive from Bogotá lies Zipaquirá, Colombia's salt mining capital, located less than 50 km away.. Zipaquirá is famous for its Salt Cathedral, carved inside an active salt mine formed 250 million years ago, which houses the largest subway cross in the world.

A great way to enhance your visit to Colombia is to combine Bogotá with Cartagena de Indias, a historical colonial city with beautiful colonial architecture. Admire the old houses, stunning balconies, and charming little squares. Visit the Plaza de los Coches, a triangular plaza bordered by the old city wall, showcasing Spanish colonial architecture and buildings with colonial arches at street level. This arcade walkway is known as El Portal de los Dulces, an entire street filled with stands selling typical Colombian sweets. You will also find the main entrance to the inner walled city, originally called Boca del Puente. This gateway was later enhanced by a Republican-style clock tower, regarded as a Cartagena symbol. End your Cartagena adventure with a full-day excursion to the Rosario Islands, where you can unwind and soak up the sun on pristine beaches.

Consider pairing Bogotá with other cities like Medellín, the Coffee Triangle, and certainly Santa Marta. I recommend consulting a knowledgeable travel advisor who is familiar with the destination to help you organize an optimal trip to Colombia and ensure a smooth experience.
